JAFP has been granting AFP certification, a domestic credential, and CFP® certification, a globally recognized credential, as private sector credentials.
As a certification body, JAFP requires AFP candidates to submit applications including registering individual information and a signed declaration for JAFP Ethical Principles. (One of the requirements to sit for the CFP® certification examination is to be an AFP certificant.)
AFP and CFP® certificants are able to provide high quality financial planning services, abiding by JAFP Ethical Principles and meeting the renewal requirements.
There are 163,003 certified members as of July 2010 (CFP® certificants: 17,127, AFP certificants: 145,876).

Membership Requirement

Individuals must agree with the JAFP mission and fulfill the certification requirements established by JAFP.

Initiation Fee:10,000 yen  Annual Membership Fee:    12,000 yen
Annual Licensing Fee for CFP® certification:8,000 yen

Special rate for students below is available from April 1, 2008.
Initiation Fee: free of charge  Annual Membership Fee: 6,000 yen
